Imagine only having to look at your bed, and you feel like your stomach is churning on the inside. This is what is medically referred to as insomnia. Have some warm milk
There is a soothing and calming effect that seems to hover around your system when you take warm milk. It can only be made effective when you take it right before going to sleep. We have seen characters do this on TV but have never really given it much of a thought. The moment you become more consistent about it is the more your sleeping patterns begin to fall right into place. Not to mention that milk is one of the most nutritious drinks you could ever settle for.
Take a brisk walk
The soothing breeze outside is much more calming especially when your house tends to be stuffy at night. Taking a brisk walk after having your supper is the best thing to do. Besides, this is one sure way of easing digestion on your system. The food you just ate will slide down smoothly and make room for the sandman to do what he does best. If possible, take your significant other with you. After all, seeing and talking to them will help you sleep better at night than you ever have in a long time.
Watch a movie
The body works so mysteriously sometimes that it gets hard to understand it. When staying up late to watch a movie, you will notice that your eyelids become heavier. You will actually struggle to keep them in place. This is not the time to resist this feeling. It is the time to embrace it with all you have and jump straight to bed. You can line them all up before bedtime sets in and get cozy as you watch them. Ensure that all is quiet and calm before you can watch the movie of your choice.
Read a book
Engaging your mind in some literary activity before you sleep is sure to give you a good night’s sleep. This is especially so when you have had a long and tiresome day. It won’t be long before you hear the z’s knocking persistently at your door. However, your choice of a good book before sleeping is what will determine how sure it will be for you to fall asleep. Something less adventurous is a suitable choice especially when you plan to kiss and make up with your significant other called ‘sleep’.
Avoid napping in the afternoon
Unless you are extremely exhausted, your body can only take up to 7 hours of sleep each night. Sleeping in the afternoon will only rob the night of its rightful sleeping patterns. Staying active all day will guarantee you a night full of endless winks.
